There are many places in America where statues are set in prominent downtown places and meant to inspire the visitor. One of my favorite is in downtown Oklahoma City and it depicts a pioneer family looking west. The inscription asks the visitor to look around and contemplate where else on earth any great city went from barren prairie to a city skyline full of skyscrapers in less than a generation. That attitude prevails in Oklahoma, a state full of friendly and outgoing people always ready to welcome strangers.
There are 77 counties here. The first nine were visited in March of 2017 and I hope to have many more completed by the end of the year.
