August 16, 2017 -   "Did you have a friends on the good Reuben James.?"

The song was written by Woody Guthrie to honor the sailors of USS Reuben James (DD-245) after she was sunk in 1941 by a German submarine. You will learn more about this wartime action on the Portland  page, but it is important to understand that, in some cases, the commemoration of an event remains in the minds of the public much longer than the event itself.

College Honor Rolls

Bowdoin College Quadrangle, off Park Row, Brunswick, ME.

Revered poets, statesmen, politicians, explorers and American legends have matriculated Bowdoin College. It still has a relatively small campus, surrounded by a city that still has the small town atmosphere.
